My Own Business

Having my own business has been an unexpected highlight of my 30’s. That’s not something that I would have thought in my 20’s though. Ryan Gosling couldn’t have talked me into starting my own business back then even with his dreamy face and “Hey Girl” persuasion. I wish I would have known then what I know now. It would have saved me so much time and effort in other jobs that I didn’t give a rat’s arse about!

When I first came across PaperPie, I wanted the adorable books and that was it. No interest for anything else. I basically joined to support my habit of buying children’s books. I wasn’t thinking of opportunity or replacing income by any means. Honestly, I never thought twice about it, I just loved the books and wanted to build my daughter an awesome library.

As I found out more and more about the opportunities within the company, I became very intrigued. There were women that had been with Usborne for 20+ years and had built a career.  I spent a lot of time getting to know these women and how they built such an amazing business. These women were driven, motivated and passionate! I started to feel a spark when chatting with them and then became flooded with ideas of what I could do with MY love of books! This business was not seen as a hobby to them or just as a discount but an opportunity to do big things! These ladies went for it and I admired them! Taking this business to the next level had never occurred to me. I simply didn’t think of it as a business. That was a mistake. Looking back, I wish I had realized that sooner.

So I started to take a serious look at what I could do with this “book thing”. I got inspired! I started thinking of charities, hospitals, schools and low income areas that could be helped. All of these opportunities were out there, I just had to put in the effort so I did just that.  I started to focus more and more and you know what…I saw my efforts paying off! My business grew significantly, my income shot up, my ability to get these books to kids everywhere was increasing, and I was fulfilled by this new career I had made for myself. All of a sudden, I realized what I had been missing before in previous jobs…passion and being around others that loved their job too!

If I had not talked to those women who had made a career at Usborne, I don’t think I would be where I am now. I don’t think that I would have put much effort into this amazing opportunity that was just staring me in the face. Talking with them one on one and listening to their tactics and plans for their businesses was motivating, to say the least.

I wanted to offer you what was offered to me. My award-winning team is hosting a free Usborne info session on Facebook this Thursday, 9/28/17.
